Dubai Airport Advisory: Only Passengers Allowed During Peak Summer Travel
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has announced that only passengers will be permitted inside the airport during peak travel periods this summer. Authorities recommend that farewells be exchanged at home to ease congestion.
Traditionally, many residents accompany their relatives to the airport and wait until check-in is complete. However, access to the arrivals forecourts of Terminals 1 and 3 will be limited to public transport and authorized airport vehicles only.
UAE residents can look forward to a four-day break from June 15-18 to celebrate Eid Al Adha. Following this, schools will close for the summer vacation.
DXB anticipates welcoming over 3.7 million guests from June 12 to 25, with daily traffic averaging 264,000 passengers. The busiest day is expected to be June 22, with guest numbers likely to exceed 287,000.
To ensure smooth travel, follow these tips:
- Emirates Passengers: Use the airline’s home-, early-, and self-check-in facilities, including city check-in options.
- Other Airline Passengers: Arrive at DXB no earlier than three hours before your scheduled departure time and utilize online check-in where available.
- Baggage Allowance: Familiarize yourself with your airline’s baggage allowance and packing regulations to avoid last-minute surprises.
- Security Screening: Save time by placing metal items (watch, jewelry, mobile phone, coins, belt) in your hand luggage and adhere to guidelines for carrying liquids, aerosols, and gels.
- Smart Gates: Families with children over 12 can expedite the passport control process by using Smart Gates.
- Travel Regulations: Keep up-to-date with the latest travel regulations for your destination and ensure you have all necessary documents ready.
- Organize Travel Documents: Prepare your travel documents in advance and weigh your luggage at home to avoid surprises at the airport.
- Spare Batteries and Power Banks: Remember to pack these in your hand luggage.
- Dubai Metro: Use the Metro to get to and from the airport and between Terminals 1 and 3 to avoid road congestion.
