Starting Saturday August 3 Dubai Metro start separate routes for Expo 2020 and UAE Exchange Metro stations. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced this change via a post on X, highlighting the importance for commuters on the Red Line to board the correct train for their destination. Display screens at Metro stations will indicate each train’s route, and passengers are advised to check this information before boarding.
This update comes after RTA’s announcement in April about the new Y junction on the Dubai Metro Red Line, which eliminates the need for passengers to transfer at Jabal Ali Interchange Station. This adjustment allows a direct route for commuters traveling between Centrepoint and UAE Exchange.

Additionally, the Dubai Executive Council revealed plans to expand the Metro network. By 2030, the number of stations will increase from the current 64 across 84 square kilometers to 96 stations covering 140 square kilometers. By 2040, the aim is to have 140 stations spanning 228 square kilometers. This expansion is part of a broader effort to boost public transport usage to 45%, reduce carbon emissions to 16 tonnes per capita, and enhance the efficiency and convenience of sustainable transport options in Dubai.
