The design of these rest areas was carefully planned to minimize the impact of sunlight and provide adequate insulation while maintaining a clear view. Each rest area is equipped with air-conditioning, snack vending machines, water dispensers, and mobile phone charging stations. Depending on the location, these rest areas can accommodate up to 10 riders at a time. Additionally, ample motorcycle parking spaces have been provided to ensure easy access for riders.

Supporting the Growing Delivery Sector

The initiative comes at a time of rapid growth in Dubai’s delivery sector. As of June 2024, there are 2,535 companies operating 40,088 delivery motorcycles across the emirate. This increase in delivery services corresponds with the rising demand for goods and services in Dubai.

Enhancing Traffic Safety and Rider Happiness

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, emphasized the importance of this initiative in enhancing traffic safety and improving the overall happiness of delivery riders. By providing these facilities, the RTA aims to encourage compliance with traffic laws and reduce the risk of road incidents, aligning with Dubai’s ‘Zero Fatalities’ vision in traffic safety.

In addition to building rest areas, the RTA has also implemented an integrated structure to ensure excellence in the delivery sector. One of the key initiatives is the Delivery Service Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding performance among companies and drivers.

Delivery Service Excellence Award Has Two Categories:

  2. One for individual drivers

The criteria for the award include adherence to safety, quality, health, and environmental standards, as well as the implementation of modern technologies and continuous training.
